Ahmedabad- An Agglomeration of Disconnected Sanctuaries

As part of a research on present day Ahmedabad in 2013, it questioned the appropriateness of spatial realms with respect to much discussed ideals of democratic India. It found severe disjuctions between the spatial realms being promoted and built vis a vis the social diagrams being spoken of as policy. It discusses the issue of accessibility- physical and notional and posits the city as a geographic agglomeration of disconnected sanctuaries- both spatially and socially. 

 

An essay based on the same, co-authored by Rushil Palavajjhala, was shortlisted as a semi-finalist  entry at the 'Berkely Prize Essay 2013' conducted by the University of California, Berkeley.
